Cycling BC welcomes Chris Cook as new Executive Director and announces staff changes

Cycling BC is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Cook as its new Executive Director, effective immediately.

This appointment follows the previously announced departure of Christine Reid, who remained in the role over the past several months to ensure continuity and support the organization. Cycling BC extends its sincere thanks to Christine for her professionalism, commitment, and steady leadership during this period, and for helping guide the organization through the launch of its new 2025-2028 Strategic Plan this past fall.

With the Strategic Plan now in place, Cycling BC is entering an important phase focused on turning shared priorities into meaningful action. Chris joins the organization at a pivotal moment and will work closely with staff, athletes, commissaires, coaches, volunteers, and partners to bring the plan to life and continue strengthening cycling across British Columbia.

“Christine’s leadership and willingness to remain during the transition provided important stability for Cycling BC as we launched our new 2025–2028 Strategic Plan and conducted our search for a new Executive Director,” said Roxanne St-Pierre, Vice-Chair and Chair of the HR Committee of the Cycling BC Board of Directors. “As we move from planning to action, we are excited to welcome Chris. His depth of experience, collaborative leadership style, and passion for cycling position him well to lead the organization into its next chapter.”

Meet Chris

Chris is a lifelong cycling enthusiast and advocate with a strong leadership background across the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, including extensive experience within the cycling industry.

Most recently, he served as Director of Mass Participation Events and Development at the BC Cancer Foundation, where he led the Tour de Cure and Cypress Challenge. He also spent many years as Head of Global Marketing at Live to Play Sports / Norco Bicycles and served as Vice President and Board Director of the Tri-Cities Off-Road Cycling Association (TORCA).

“I am honoured to step into the role of Executive Director with Cycling BC,” said Chris Cook. “The organization has done important work engaging the cycling community to develop a clear and ambitious strategic plan. I look forward to working alongside staff, the Board, and our members to turn that vision into action and continue supporting cycling at all levels across the province.”

Staff transition

In parallel, Cycling BC would like to recognize and thank Ben Chaddock for his 11 years of dedicated service to the organization as he moves on to pursue an opportunity outside of Cycling BC. Over more than a decade, Ben played an important role in the development and delivery of many programs, including Hop On and coach development. His knowledge, commitment, and long-standing involvement have helped shape the organization, and Cycling BC is grateful for his contributions and wishes him every success in his next chapter.

As Cycling BC moves forward, the Board and the new Executive Director will take time to reflect on the organization’s evolving needs and thoughtfully consider how best to support this area of work in the future.

Here’s to another great year of riding

With its 2026 membership registration open and the 2026 provincial events calendar released, Cycling BC extends its thanks to the community for its continued support and looks forward to a healthy, active, and successful year ahead.
