2026 Cycling BC Member Insurance Update & Information Session

One of the key benefits of Cycling BC membership is the insurance coverage that helps protect members when riding their bikes during both sanctioned and non-sanctioned activities. The two main components of the Cycling BC insurance program that are included for all members are,

  • 24/7 Sport (Ride) Accident Insurance – this is secondary coverage (in addition to BC Medical Services Plan and any company extended health plans) that provides coverage for the treatment of injuries sustained while riding your bike anywhere in the world, as long as treatment occurs in Canada. This coverage is active during both personal cycling activities and registered/sanctioned training and competitive activities.
  • General Liability Insurance – this is coverage for lawsuits alleging bodily injury or property damage (to a vehicle, for example) to a third party during approved Cycling BC sanctioned events and activities, including Cycling BC-affiliated club rides. If the incident takes place during a commute or a personal ride, then members should contact their home or renters insurance companies to determine any potential coverage.

An Errors and Omissions professional liability policy is also included for our affiliated club team coaches or other “professionals” within the context of the club or team. There is also an optional add-on for Directors’ and Officers’ Liability – for clubs to cover their board of directors against potential legal claims.

The Cycling BC insurance program is part of Cycling BC’s commitment to supporting a safe and responsible cycling community for all of our members across the province.

We have heard and acknowledged the importance of 24/7 Ride Accident coverage for our members and are pleased to continue offering this coverage for 2026. We have also updated the coverage limits for certain benefits under the Sport (Ride) Accident policy to help us maintain this coverage.

We encourage all members to review the updated coverage details on our website at https://cyclingbc.net/membership/insurance/ to fully understand the protections included with their Cycling BC membership.

In addition, we invite members to join us online for a Cycling BC member insurance information session and update presented by our insurance broker, Gallagher Insurance, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM (PT).

This event is intended to be an informative and educational online gathering for Cycling BC members to better understand the insurance coverage that is included in their membership, including the continuation of 24/7 accident insurance and coverage limit updates for 2026.
