Many riders have been eagerly anticipating the 2026 BC Provincial Criterium Championships, and Cycling BC would like to provide an important update regarding the event, which was initially and tentatively scheduled for Sunday, August 16, in the Greater Victoria area.
Due to challenges in securing a venue at the originally planned location and after several attempts to find a suitable alternative in the region within tight timelines, Cycling BC has decided to move both the date and location of the race.
Cycling BC is now working closely with local partners and event organizers to host the championships on the weekend of August 22-23 or August 29-30, at a previously used criterium venue in Vancouver.
As Cycling BC sanctions the Provincial Championships, we work with local clubs and event organizers to ensure safe and successful event delivery. We fully recognize the significant effort required to organize these events, including obtaining municipal approvals, developing traffic plans, coordinating emergency services, acquiring insurance, recruiting volunteers, and managing all necessary logistics within tight timelines and budgets. We would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts, collaboration, and commitment to keeping this important event on the race calendar.
