** Provincial Race licences are only permitted to race in Challenge (non-championship) categories at national-level events. Refer to the event’s tech guide for licence requirements.

Single Event Licences:
Cycling BC offers single-event licences for specific sanctioned events to allow individuals without an annual membership licence the opportunity to participate in organized cycling events. Single-event licences are specific to a particular event and are only valid for that event.
By becoming a Cycling BC member you're not only protecting yourself with insurance during rides and races, you're also supporting the development of cycling at all levels.
Cycling BC supports the development of events, athletes, officials, coaches, clubs, and youth cycling. Your membership grows the sport and strengthens the voice for cycling in BC.
Annual Cycling BC membership licenses are valid for the calendar year, from January 1 (or from the date of issue if it is after January 1) until December 31 of the indicated year on the license.
All Cycling BC memberships are non-refundable because the insurance policy is activated and reported to our insurer at the time of issue, which cannot be reversed.
Yes. Many Cycling BC-affiliated clubs and teams have their own membership registration portals on the CCNBikes registration platform, which allow riders to purchase their Cycling BC membership and register to join the club/team at the same time.
You can find active club and team portals here:→ Find a Club / Team / Business
Yes. Members may upgrade from Cycling for All → Provincial Race → UCI Race at any point during the season and pay only the price difference between the membership types. Please ensure you use your existing CCNBikes account to purchase your desired license.
If you are looking to upgrade your ability category on your race licence, please submit an Ability Category Upgrade Request at cyclingbc.net/upgrade-request.
To check your membership status, visit cyclingbc.net/myaccount and log in to your account on the CCNbikes platform. Cycling BC requires that an Accident Report Form be completed within 7 days of any incident. Major incidents (hospitalization, concussion, fracture, significant trauma) require this form for any insurance claim to proceed. Minor incidents should also be reported so Cycling BC and clubs maintain accurate safety records.
→ Use the Accident Report Form at cyclingbc.net/accident
Yes. Event organizers, race directors, club safety leads, or designated volunteers must ensure the Accident Report Form is completed, first aid is documented, and witness information is collected. This maintains event compliance and ensures the insurance policy remains valid.

Joining a club or team allows you to connect with other cyclists, improve your skills, and enjoy the thrill of cycling in a supportive environment. Clubs typically have open memberships, while teams are often invite-only.
Most clubs offer Meet ’n Greet ride opportunities, which allow prospective club members to try out a club before joining.
Visit our Find a Club/Team page and connect with a group that fits your needs.
You can join Cycling BC as an independent rider and participate in events and activities, or simply for the insurance benefits, whether you’re a casual cyclist or a more serious competitor. Anyone interested can register and join the Cycling BC community.
When you enter a Cycling BC-sanctioned race, racers can be grouped in different ways. Some races group riders by age, while others group them by ability. Some races even mix both. Your age determines your age group, and your skill level—based on your past results—determines your ability category.
For example, these are the ability and age categories you’ll see throughout the season:
Grassroots and mass participation events that are not eligible for category upgrade points may offer different categories.
→ Visit our Race Categories & Upgrades page for more information.
Yes — “Cycling for All” licences are only permitted to race in Sport, Novice, or Cat 5 if an event offers the categories. No upgrade points are available for “Cycling for All” licences.
Yes, but only in the Challenge/Non-Championship categories. Championship categories at national events — including Canada Cups, National Championships, or any category awarding national titles, points, or UCI recognition — require a UCI Race licence.
We recommend reviewing the technical guide for each event, as category structures and licence requirements can vary by discipline.
[NEW for 2026] Masters vs. Elite UCI Race Licences (Age 35+)
If you are 35 years of age or older, your UCI Race licence application will automatically be issued as a Masters licence. This helps prevent administrative errors during licence processing. If you intend to race in UCI-sanctioned Elite categories, you must email membership@cyclingbc.net after submitting your application, and before it is issued, to request that your licence be issued as Elite instead of Masters.
Which licence should I choose?
Choose carefully based on your season goals.
Choose a Masters licence if you plan to race:
Choose an Elite licence if you plan to race:
Important — Once your licence is approved/issued and you have competed in a UCI race during that calendar year, your Masters or Elite designation cannot be changed.
Additional notes:
Racing in other Canadian provinces or in the USA
Racing outside Canada and the USA
Important: When racing outside of Canada, you must also have emergency travel medical coverage, as Cycling BC’s insurance is valid for services/treatment only within Canada.
If you compete for a club or team registered in another province or country, Cycling BC can update your 2026 UCI Race Licence to display your correct team affiliation. Please email membership@cyclingbc.net with the following:
If your team has not finalized its 2026 registration yet, you may send the documents as they become available.
Once all information is received, Cycling BC will add your team to the membership affiliation dropdown within 3–5 business days, allowing you to purchase your 2026 licence at cyclingbc.net/buymembership with the correct team name.
Riders who do not renew their race license in any jurisdiction can return to their current category within 24 months after the license expires.
Riders returning after more than 24 months of absence will drop down one category for each 24-month period. To regain their previous category status, the rider must follow the standard category upgrade procedure.
