The new Cycling BC Youth Mountain Bike series had a successful debut as part of the Ore Crusher Mountain Bike race in Brackendale, BC, on May 10.

With the sun coming out to warm things up, 27 riders, ranging in age from 14 to 18, took to the world class trail network in Brackendale for a 26 km XC race.

“The response we got from this new series exceeded expectations,” said Cycling BC Race Coordinator Barry Lyster. “Now that we have our first race competed, we can continue to work on growing and improving the series.”

The success of this series is in the partnership created between Cycling BC and the Test Of Metal Group Of Events. “We had a need to find venues to host shorter mountain bike races so we could attract youth riders, and to allow these riders to prepare for up-coming Canada Cup races.  Having the opportunity to work with Canada’s premier mountain bike series made this project possible,” said Lyster.
