BC athletes will compete against nation’s best at 2026 U17/Junior Track Nationals

From March 27–29, 2026, Canada’s U17 and Junior track cyclists will converge on the brand new velodrome in Edmonton, Alberta, to compete in the 2026 Canadian Junior/U17 Track Championships. This event will showcase the exceptional cycling talent found across the country, but also serves as an important milestone in the development of our Cycling BC High Performance program athletes.

This opportunity for young athletes to compete at a high-quality, high-level event against their peers across the country is instrumental in facilitating their growth along the Athlete Development Pathway. What’s more, opportunities for the young athletes to travel together as a team to a project like this are not only meant to improve their on-bike skills, decision-making, and tactics, but also to develop life skills such as planning, independence, recovery management, and accountability.

A highlight for this year’s championships is that it will be hosted at the newly opened Alberta Velodrome at Coronation Park Sport and Recreation Centre in Edmonton. In an announcement made by Cycling Canada, Jen Eaton, Cycling Canada Events and Officials Manager, expressed her enthusiasm for the cyclists competing at the new venue.

“This state-of-the-art facility provides an inspiring stage for young athletes to test their abilities, push their limits, and continue shaping the future of Canadian cycling,” said Jen.

The experience, competition, and camaraderie found at these championships will be on full display. As our athletes prepare to compete this weekend, it’s important to remember that support for athlete development is crucial. With continued investment in programs and initiatives that encourage young cyclists, we invite you to give to help continue to foster the next generation of Canada’s riders. Cycling Canada’s 1882 Collective is a fundraising initiative that helps distribute donations directly to the Canadian cycling ecosystem, contributing to the sport of cycling at the local, provincial and national level.
