Georgia Simmerling selected for the BC Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Cycling BC celebrates the BC Sports Hall of Fame’s recent announcement of its 2026 Induction Class, including Cycling, Alpine Ski, and Ski Cross athlete, Georgia Simmerling, as she receives the highest sporting honour in the province.

Georgia’s journey is nothing short of legendary. While many athletes spend a lifetime mastering a single discipline, Georgia holds the incredible distinction of being the first Canadian athlete ever to compete in three Olympic Games in three different sports: Alpine Skiing (Vancouver 2010), Ski Cross (Sochi 2014), and Track Cycling (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020).

In just her fourth-ever team pursuit race, Georgia helped Canada win a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics along with teammates Allison Beveridge, Kirsti Lay, and fellow British Columbians, Laura Brown and Jasmine Glaesser. Her cycling resume continued to grow with a silver medal at the 2016 UCI World Cycling Championships, two gold medals at the 2019 Pan American Track Cycling Championships, and a fourth-place finish in Tokyo.

Born in Vancouver and raised in West Vancouver, Georgia has always carried her BC roots with pride. Georgia is one of the honoured BC Sports Hall of Fame inductees in 2026, which includes five athletes, three builder-coaches, one team, one pioneer, one media member and the winner of the prestigious W.A.C. Bennett Award. The formal Induction Event for the Class of 2026 will be held this fall, with details to be announced soon.

Georgia’s incredible career is a great inspiration for every young rider in our province, proving that with hard work and a can-do attitude, there are no limits to what you can achieve.

On behalf of the entire staff, board, and membership at Cycling BC, we want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Georgia. Thank you for inspiring us all with your remarkable career and for being a true champion for British Columbia. We look forward to seeing your legacy officially enshrined in the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
