Cycling BC is pleased to announce the 2016 BC Championship races. Following the success of the 2015 Championship races, this season promises more high quality, competitive racing throughout our beautiful province.
The BC Elite and Master Time Trial and Road Championships will be held May 28 to 29. On May 28, Escape Velocity will be hosting the time trial and road race championships, at the Accenture BC TT and Road Championships, with the time trial on their classic River Road course and the road race on the Atomic Super course in Abbotsford on May 29. The Criterium Championships will now be taking place at the Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series p/b PISE: Russ Hays/Accent Inns Grand Prix at the BC Legislature in Victoria, on June 5.
The BC Youth Time Trial, Road and Criterium Championships will return to the sunny Okanagan June 10 – 12, with the Hayman Classic. Building on their successful 2015 event, organizer Ron Hayman and his crew will be bringing back the great courses used last year, including the spectator-friendly downtown Penticton criterium.
The BC Cross Country and Downhill Championships will be heading back to Whistler Blackcomb on June 25 and 26. With rumors of new courses, combined with that great Whistler experience, this is one weekend you won’t want to miss.
The BC BMX Championships will be July 16 at the Abbotsford BMX Park. With strong support from our provincial clubs, and a world class venue, these championship races promises action packed racing for all.
After a very successful 2015 event, the BC Cyclocross Championships will be returning to Loggers Sport’s Grounds in Squamish. Event organizer Steed Cycles has plans to make 2016 even bigger and better. With the race day changing to Saturday, there are rumors of a post-event social. Stay tuned for more details.
The BC Track Championships will be returning to the Burnaby Velodrome on August 26-28, 2016. Record numbers attended the event back in 2014, the last time it was hosted in Burnaby, and 2016 plans to top those numbers.
Additional information for all the BC Championship events will be announced over the season. Cycling BC is looking forward to another successful year of BC Championship racing.
