Each year Cycling BC sanctions the BMX Provincial Championships, inviting all BMX racers from across BC together to determine the Provincial BMX Champions in each age group. This is the highest ranking race in the Province and is a Nationally recognized event, in which athletes earn points towards their National ranking and World Championship qualification. The Provincial Championship is an age group race only. There are no class distinctions in order to decide the true Provincial Champion for each age group.
The Abbotsford BMX Association is excited to host the 2016 BC Championship. This is one of two qualifier races for the 2017 UCI World Championship in Rock Hill, SC United States (see details in the technical guide below). This race will identify British Columbia athletes eligible to enter the 2017 World Championship race.
This event is open to all BMX athletes, with a valid Cycling BC licence (UCI or Provincial Race License (Citizen)).
Licences are available by on-line purchase only at https://cyclingbc.net/membership/types-registration/ prior to the event. If you are new to Cycling BC or have not held a Cycling BC license in the last 5yrs licence, there is a 50% discount. Please ensure you retain the purchase confirmation if you have not received your licence.
You may be required to show proof of license at sign-in.
Those athletes who don’t have a Cycling BC Licence will have the option to purchase a Cycling BC One-Event License / One Day Insurance, to participate in this race. Cycling BC One Event Licence cost (U17 $5 day, 17+ $10 day).
Note: If you plan to attend the Canadian National Championships in Calgary you will require a UCI licence, not a Provincial Race Licence (citizen).
