Basic Cycling Skills

This in-person, outdoor workshop provides coaches the opportunity to practice teaching basic skills in a safe and friendly environment. The session builds upon the topics discussed the pre-requisite modules to practice skill analysis, observations, and corrective feedback – all vital skills for coaches of both new and experienced cyclists looking to improve.

This module is included in BOTH the Community and the Club (Competition-Introduction) context.

Pre-Requisites:

  • Foundations
  • Emergency Action Plans
  • Making Ethical Decisions & Quiz
  • Community Theory  OR  Club Theory A

Module includes:

  1. Braking
  2. Straight-line riding
  3. Tight turns
  4. Gearing and cadence
  5. Cornering
  6. Wheel Lifts
  7. Climbing
  8. Descending
  9. Dismounts/Remounts
  10. Shoulder Bumping
  11. Tire Buzzing
  12. Drop-offs
