Ride Leader Training

This combination theory/practical workshop is designed to help you lead weekly rides at your adult club. The module includes a 2-hour education call via Telus Business Connect (ZOOM) and concludes with a 3-hour outdoor skills session and practice ride. To achieve certification, submit your journal and EAP within seven days of our practice ride.

Topics:

1. Club Culture & Why Statements
2. Ride Leader Responsibilities (Route Plan, Pre-Ride Briefing)
3. Emergencies (Stoplight Method + What IFs)
4. Safety and Hazards (Road & Trail)
5. Communication (Signals, Etiquette, Formations)
6. Outdoor Practice Ride (Everyone gets a chance to lead)

Schedule:

• April 24 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm (Education Call via Telus Business Connect)
• April 27 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (Outdoor Ride @ Kelowna, BC)

*If we sell out all 6 spots, our waitlist will activate and we can add a 1pm-4pm ride for another 4-6 participants.

Next Steps:

• Register and use the Ride Leader Journal to complete the pre-reading (revised and ready on March 15, 2024)
• Upload our route map to your bike computer: Route Maps
• Submit your Ride Leader Journal to coaching@cyclingbc.net within seven days of the outdoor ride.
• Upon review, we’ll send you a congratulatory email and invite you to upgrade to a UCI Technical License: Ride Leader to get your certificate.
