TYPES OF AFFILIATION

Cycling BC’s affiliated Provincial Clubs form the foundation of organized cycling across British Columbia. These clubs create supportive, inclusive spaces where riders of all ages and abilities can connect, train, and build community.

Provincial Clubs are typically not-for-profit societies governed by their members through a board of directors, bylaws, and an Annual General Meeting (AGM). Membership is open to anyone holding an active Cycling BC membership.

These affiliates design, promote, and operate the events that form the backbone of our provincial calendar—from grassroots rides to national-level competitions.

Starting in 2025, the Supporting Business affiliation is exclusive to event organizers who facilitate sanctioned events rather than complementary group activities.  Organizers must hold a valid Event Organizer UCI Technical membership and sanction each event through our Sanctioning Portal. Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Uplifter, and how does it relate to CCNBIKES or Interpodia?

CCNbikes is the official platform Cycling BC uses for managing memberships, affiliations, and event registrations. In early 2025, Uplifter Inc. entered into a strategic merger with Interpodia (the company that owns CCNbikes) and began a major upgrade of the CCNbikes platform’s performance and features. Uplifter now supports more than 4 million users, 1,500 clubs, and 200 sports governing bodies. Cycling BC affiliates can use CCNBikes at no additional cost, aside from standard payment-processing fees. We anticipate Uplifter will add further enhancements to CCNbikes, including faster performance, a mobile app for membership cards and messaging, and improved data analytics—all designed to reduce administrative workload for clubs, teams, and organizers.

Payment-processing fees are universal across all event registration platforms. Here is a comparison table of the most common event registration platforms. Click here to view the CCNBikes processing fees for all price points.

  • What is an example of a Club/Team registration portal on CCNbikes?

To view samples of our existing Club and Team Membership Portals via CCNbikes, please visit our Find a Club page and select one of the portal links. We invite you to schedule a call with Cycling BC to conduct a walkthrough of the system and assist you in setting up your portal for the season.

  • How does Cycling BC insurance work and why must affiliates pre-register activities?

Please visit our Insurance page and FAQs for more information about our insurance program. Cycling BC-affiliated clubs and teams hosting rides and activities in British Columbia are strongly encouraged to pre-register using the online form at cyclingbc.net/ridereg. Having this information on record with Cycling BC saves your club/team/event a lot of time and administrative work in the event you have to make an insurance claim. A club ride involves two (2) or more club members, excluding guests or non-club members.

Clubs/teams travelling outside the province must register activities to ensure liability insurance is activated (valid only for competitions in the contiguous USA, not training camps).

Affiliates organizing events that charge their members a fee to participate, or are open to the public, must sanction the events using our cyclingbc.net/sanctioning application.

  • How do I request a Certificate of Insurance (COI)?

Certificates of Insurance are required for venues, landowners, or municipalities that host club or event activities. Requests must be submitted at least 14 days before the activity date. Please download the cyclingbc.net/coi-request form and email the completed form to insurance@cyclingbc.net.

  • What type of Cycling BC membership do our club coaches, chaperones, and organizers need?

All Cycling BC members who are fulfilling a leadership position must hold a valid Cycling BC Technical License that matches their role and responsibilities. Learn more by reading our cyclingbc.net/ssce-policy.

Our Ride Leader training is 100% optional! Learn more about Ride Leader Training.

  • Can prospective members join a club or team ride?

Yes, non-members can join up to two rides as guests after signing Cycling BC’s liability waiver. For additional rides, they must purchase an annual Cycling BC membership.

To streamline administration and preserve insurance coverage, clubs and teams should use the Meet’n Greet feature in their CCNbikes portal, which automatically tracks waivers and guest participation. Alternatively, prospective members can visit cyclingbc.net/waiver and show the ride leader a copy of their confirmation email.

  • What technical support does Cycling BC provide to affiliates?

Each affiliate receives a custom-branded CCNbikes portal for membership and event management. New clubs and teams receive setup support from Cycling BC’s affiliation manager, while returning affiliates can clone their previous year’s portal to save time. Cycling BC also provides documentation, templates, and one-on-one scheduling support for affiliation, registration, and marketing.

If your organization requires further technical support, please get in touch with us.

  • What fundraising or grant opportunities are available to affiliates?

Affiliates can utilize fundraising platforms through:

    • BC Amateur Sport Fund (BCASF)
    • Cycling Canada’s 1882 Collective

Some of the grants available to affiliates include:

    • Lead Forward Grant – up to $2,000 for female-leadership initiatives.
    • Hosting BC Grant – up to $35,000 for major events.
    • BC Ferries Sport Experience Program – travel vouchers on BC Ferries for eligible athletes, coaches, and officials

Learn more on our Club Resources page.

  • What digital tools can affiliates use to manage rides and communication?

Clubs often use Link My Ride, TeamSnap, Spond, Strava, and WhatsApp to organize rides and track attendance.

Please note: Cycling BC does NOT require attendance tracking, and is best managed outside the CCNbikes platform. However, the CCNbikes platform features a direct integration with TeamSnap, and it also connects with the MailChimp email platform to facilitate your club’s email communications.

  • What is SafeSport?

Cycling BC and Cycling Canada follow the national Safe Sport Framework to ensure sport environments are inclusive, respectful, and free from maltreatment. All technical leaders, coaches, and officials must complete Safe Sport and Ethics training before leading participants. Learn more at cyclingbc.net/about/safe-sport

  • How do I start a new sanctioned event or championship?

Visit Cycling BC’s Organizer Resources page to learn more about sanctioning an event with Cycling BC on the following pages:

  • How do I start a new cycling club?

Starting a club begins with a simple idea: riding together with a purpose. To help you build something safe, sustainable, and recognized within BC’s cycling community, we’ve created a step-by-step “How to Start a Cycling Club” guide. It outlines best practices, governance basics, and the requirements for coverage under Cycling BC’s general liability insurance.

Youth-focused clubs have additional considerations regarding safety, skill development, and long-term athlete development (LTAD). These details live in Part 2 of the guide. Note: the current edition was published in 2021 and is scheduled for revision.

Before you start your application, reach out—membership@cyclingbc.net or 604-737-3034. A short conversation helps us understand your goals and point you toward the right pathway. You can also explore our Affiliation Overview page for a full breakdown of club types and expectations.

When you’re ready to affiliate, follow these steps:

    1. Create your CCN user account at ccnbikes.com.
Use your club name as the “First Name” and “Admin” as the “Surname.”
      Email: a central admin address (e.g., info@clubname.ca).

    2. Submit your application at cyclingbc.net/affiliate-reg.

    3. Complete your onboarding call.
Before approval, Cycling BC will connect with you to review your structure, answer questions, and finalize your club/team portal. Once activated, members can register directly through your portal, and your administrators can manage everything from the dashboard.

  • How do I renew my affiliation?

To renew, begin by logging in to ccnbikes.com using either:

    • your personal account (if you are the current club/team lead), or
    • your club’s main administrative account (e.g., affiliatename@gmail.com).

Once logged in, follow the steps outlined in the November 5th, 2025 Affiliation Memo and open your pre-cloned 2026 Membership Portal. At the bottom of the main Dashboard (Home tab), select +Affiliation, choose Cycling BC Affiliation 2026 in the pop-up, and complete the application. Be sure to select the correct affiliation type (club, team, or business). After submitting, please schedule a short call with our Membership Manager to debrief on your season and finalize cloning your portal.

How do I transfer ownership of the club/team to a new lead?

If your club or team has a new president, secretary, or manager, the incoming lead must take over ownership of your CCNBikes financial account before completing any 2026 renewal steps. You may complete this change in one of two ways:

    1. Transfer ownership of an existing personal account: The outgoing president emails support@ccnbikes.com, CCs the incoming president/treasurer, and requests that financial ownership be transferred to the new lead.
    2. Create a universal club admin account (preferred): To ensure long-term continuity, you can create a new admin account dedicated to the organization. Log out, create a fresh account using the format below, then contact support@cyclingbc.net to transfer financial ownership to this new profile. Once ownership is reassigned, financial account owners can set up controllers (for bank withdrawals) and add administrators—including personal accounts.

    Recommended universal admin setup:
