Cycling BC had the honour of visiting the Family Services of the North Shore Community Hub at Capilano Mall in North Vancouver earlier this month. During the visit, we learned about their various services for the community and donated some pre-loved bikes to the Wonder Wheels program. This program provides local children and teens with access to bicycles, promotes active lifestyles, and encourages opportunities for outdoor fun.
The Wonder Wheels program, formerly known as Bikes for Tykes—founded by Obsession: Bikes shop owner, James Wilson—has been a vital part of the community for years, offering children and teens the chance to explore cycling, whether they’re learning the basics or going on family adventures.
“We’re pleased to donate these bikes, previously used in our HopOn program, to families who may not otherwise have access to them,” said Christine Reid, Executive Director of Cycling BC. “We hope these bikes will go on to build happy memories and create a sense of joy, freedom, and connection to the outdoors for kids in the community.”
A bike can be a child’s first taste of joy and independence and for many families in our community, owning a bike is out of reach. Wonder Wheels can change that, with your support:
- Pass on the pedal power – Drop off pre-loved bikes at the Family Services of the North Shore Community Hub at Capilano Mall.
- Fuel the ride – Your donation provides essential repairs, helmets, and support, ensuring that every child gets a safe and working bike.
- Lend a helping hand – Volunteers make this program possible. Whether you’re handy with tools or just want to help distribute bikes, there’s a place for you.
Help us get more bikes into the hands of kids who need them. Visit Family Services of the North Shore to donate, volunteer, or learn more.
