The Axel Merckx Youth Development Foundation is pleased to present its Youth Cycling Series for the 2016 season in Kelowna. Both events will allow the region’s promising 11 to 18 year old cyclists to race under a structured learning environment, while competing directly with their peers. Each event will include coaching seminars, athlete development lectures, and of course, age-group category races.
If you are, or know of, a young cyclist who’s keen on developing racing skills, this is the event for you!
The event will take place in Kelowna British Columbia (updated schedule coming soon):
Athletes register for the AMYDF Kelowna based on current Cycling BC / UCI racing age (age as of December 31st, 2016). For the initial training/skills session, and time trial competition of each AMYCS event – athletes will be grouped based on age (U19, U17, U15, and U13).
For the initial training/skills session, and time trial competition of each AMYDF event – athletes will be grouped based on age (U19, U17, U15, and U13). Following this initial training and competition session on opening day of each AMYDF event athletes will be grouped into ability based categories, of similar rider numbers, for the remainder of the weekend event (A, B, and C categories). These groupings will be primarily based upon results posted in the time trial event(s), and confirmed through coach feedback of rider skill and maturity. AMYDF reserve the right to combine age groups into ability based categories based solely at the discretion of the AMYDF coaching staff, and event management.
