The goal of TheBluMoose is to raise monies for two charities in Danya Leemhuis’s name through two cycling events, a sport Danya loved. The first charity is the Golden & District Hospital and the second is the Couchiching Conservancy. Participants in these events will donate to TheBluMoose Canada Helps page and make a $200 (or more) donation to ensure participation in the respected event.
The Golden & District hospital provides high quality medical and emergency care to the residents and many visitors to this area of outstanding natural beauty. The Golden and Kickinghorse communities were a hugely important part of Danya’s life. Danya’s love of skiing was discovered and developed here and his glorious summers were spent happily hiking, biking and golfing. In Danya’s memory it is an honour to raise funds and give back to this wonderful community and support its hospital and all the care it provides.
The Couchiching Conservancy protects more than 12,000 acres of ecologically significant land in the Orillia region, ensuring the conservation of wetlands, forests and grass lands and their diverse wildlife. Hiking, exploring and discovering the wonders of nature brought Danya great joy. To protect and conserve these precious ecosystems for todays children and future generations is a prefect way to celebrate Danya’s life.
