Clubs can apply for $15K HopOn Grant by April 13, 2025

Applications are now open for Community Sport for All Initiative (CSAI) funding through Cycling Canada in support of the implementation and development of HopOn programming.

Cycling Canada and the Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations (PTSO) have partnered on a funding opportunity for affiliated cycling clubs to support community sport programming and reduce barriers to sport participation for under-represented groups across Canada.

Cycling clubs can take advantage of this opportunity to partner with Cycling BC and secure funding to roll out the HopOn and/or HopOn Bridge programs over the next two years for groups that often lack access to this type of programming. We encourage clubs to apply and make a meaningful impact in their communities. The funding is made possible by the Government of Canada’s Community Sport for All Initiative (CSAI).

Cycling BC-affiliated clubs can apply for up to a maximum amount of $15,000, split over two years, that can be used towards:

  • HopOn-trained Instructors and NCCP-certified Learning Facilitators
  • Program subsidies (e.g., registration fees)
  • Equipment needs (bikes, helmets, trailer, maintenance, insurance, etc.)

“Successful partnerships are based on the right partners coming together and this funding makes these connections even more possible,” said Robyn Skinner, Cycling Canada Director of Community Growth and Engagement. “Financial support from Sport Canada directed to affiliated cycling clubs across the country is crucial to building strong cycling communities. This influx of funding supports HopOn programming, equipment and instructor training directly; however, the legacy impact includes establishing new and building on community partnerships and relationships.”

This is the third year that CSAI funding has been made available through Cycling Canada, with 27 clubs directly benefiting in 2023 and over 70 HopOn festivals supported through the PTSOs in 2024. The CSAI component of the Sport Canada Sport Support Program seeks to remove barriers and increase sport participation rates for underrepresented groups. Its key objective is to support community sport initiatives for equity-deserving groups, in particular, Black, Indigenous, racialized communities, 2SLGBTQI+, low-income people, persons with a disability, newcomers and seniors.

Grant applications will be accepted until April 13, 2025, and successful applicants will receive funding by April 24, 2025.
