Cycling BC-affiliated clubs, teams, and businesses are eligible for insurance coverage for sanctioned events and activities, such as races, rides, and training activities.
A certificate of insurance proves that the current affiliated member organization (club, team, business, or organizer) is covered by Cycling BC’s insurance policy. The insurance certificate does not in and of itself grant insurance coverage. In fact, if no third party asks you to name them on an insurance certificate, then you don’t need to apply for one.
Insurance coverage is granted for Sanctioned and Registered events and activities. Examples of activities and events that can be sanctioned are:
Failure to obtain sanctioning approval or failure to document the sanctioned event may result in a breach of coverage and the insurer shall not have any duty to defend any individual member for any suit arising as a result of a non-sanctioned event or improperly documented sanctioned event.
Coverage is extended to all members of the event organization, club or team, including directors, employees and volunteers, as well as to sponsors, landowners, governments, and municipalities for liability arising from their role in the Sanctioned or Registered Event. The limit of liability is $10,000,000 / incident.

General Liability Insurance is designed to protect a person against legal responsibility arising out of a negligent act or failure to act as a prudent person would have acted to which results in bodily injury or property damage to another party. Any individual involved in your activity can claim damages as a result of an injury. Even though you may not be negligent in your actions, legal defence costs alone can be financially devastating. This policy will provide protection for both legal defence costs and any compensatory damages that may be awarded, subject to the limits and conditions of the policy. Transferring your risk to an insurance policy provides you the opportunity to run your activity with peace of mind.
