Cycling BC is pleased to announce Scott Suffolk from Vancouver, BC, has been elected to the board of directors. The election result was previously announced at the Cycling BC annual general meeting on June 24, 2024.
The board elections took place online from June 3rd to June 19th. Members voted to elect a new director from a group of four candidates including Jonathan P. Arnold, Brent Bagnall, Mike Greyell, and Scott Suffolk. A total of 127 votes were cast, with Suffolk receiving the highest percentage of votes at 48.8%. Cycling BC would like to thank all four candidates for stepping up and offering to lend their time, experience, and expertise to Cycling BC.
Suffolk is a lifelong cyclist, beginning with BMX, mountain biking, and road cycling before recently taking up gravel riding. He is a member of Glotman Simpson Cycling and has served on various boards, including the Evergreen Rugby Football Club and the Brockton Pavilion Society. Suffolk’s extensive financial background as a Controller and Chief Financial Officer, as well as his ability to build strong teams, will be of great value to Cycling BC.
Suffolk will assume the board director position for a three-year term starting on September 15, 2024. This is also the time when board member and current board chair, Deb Intas, will finish her three-year term and leave the board.
Cycling BC extends our heartfelt gratitude to Deb. Her leadership has been instrumental in guiding Cycling BC through both smooth and challenging times. Her countless hours spent meticulously reviewing and re-reviewing budgets and her unwavering commitment to working closely with the CEO on a weekly basis have been invaluable to Cycling BC. Deb’s dedication, passion and tireless efforts have made a significant impact on Cycling BC and its members. Cycling BC is grateful for her service and wishes Deb all the best in her future endeavours.
