Starting today, voting is open for the proposed $8 increase to the 2025 Membership Fee. Your vote will help ensure the sustainability and growth of recreational and competitive cycling in BC. Voting is open until December 12 and details on how to log in and cast your vote are provided below.
Why Vote Yes?
Our last fee increase was in January 2023. We held fees constant in 2024. The Board voted unanimously to increase 2025 fees in recognition of the fact that our extensive cost-cutting measures deployed over the past two years–while highly effective in reducing our deficit–are not enough to bring our budget into balance, especially in the face of recent inflation, and the need to continue serving members across the province.
Over the past week, we’ve shared updates about our finances and support for clubs, and we’ve hosted three Meet & Greet sessions to connect directly with you (more Meet & Greets are planned in the new year based on your feedback!). We’ve also fielded your questions via email and updated our FAQ section to address trending topics. Thank you to everyone who has engaged with us, shared information with your club members or provided valuable feedback. Your participation has been constructive, informative and deeply appreciated.
New Operational Updates
Over the past 10 days, we’ve been hard at work, continuing to advance some of our priorities:
- Insurance clarity: We’ve provided a comprehensive explanation of our insurance coverage to ensure transparency and understanding. Check out the details in our FAQ section.
- 2025 Fundraising Plan: At the December 3 Board Meeting, we discussed exciting initiatives to diversify our funding model, including:
- Elevating the Sponsorship experience and packaging Sponsorship Opportunities set to be launched in Spring 2025
- Creating a Bike Raffle and merchandise collaborations with event organizers
- Creating an annual Impact Report to Members on how their contributions are supporting the growth of Cycling in BC
- Mountain Bike Upgrade Policy Update: on December 2, we introduced an updated upgrade policy for Mountain Bike racing. The new system uses a points matrix to award upgrade points based on placement and field size, aligning with other cycling disciplines.
Voting will take place online through CCN from December 6, 2024, to December 12, 2024. To participate, individuals must be registered as 2024 Cycling BC members and will need to log in to their CCN accounts. You can access voting through the links available on the membership fee vote website or directly at the following link: https://ccnbikes.com/#!/events/cbc2025
We’re deeply committed to improving and making Cycling BC better for you. Thank you for your support.
