This course is the minimum requirement for new coaches who would like to work with their local cycling club or with Cycling BC’s iRide program.
This community initiation course is designed for coaches who will primarily work with novice, pre-competitive cyclists at the community level, including participants in the Active Start, FUNdamentals and early Learn to Train stages of athlete development (outlined in Cycling Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development Model). The program is simple, based on a number of pre-designed lesson plans, and adaptable to the varying skill and ability levels of participants. The focus of the program is on having participants develop skills that are basic to MTB, BMX, and Road, in a controlled, off-road, off-trail setting such as a sport field or parking lot.
This subsidized course is made possible by support from the Sport Canada Grant, Cycling Canada and the City of Delta, in association with BC Superweek and the Tour de Delta. In accordance with Cycling BC’s coach development initiative, youth members from ages 14-19 can register for free until October 12th, 2018. Email iride@cyclingbc.net to receive your discount code. Registration will remain open at the $85 rate for all adult participants until October 12th, 2018, after which time, registration will be free for all ages.
