After a resounding revival of the BC Cup in 2021, Cycling BC is excited to announce the 2022 BC Cup downhill calendar with seven races from June through to September at some of BC’s most magnificent mountain destinations. As a series, riders will be awarded points according to their placing after each event and the points leader in each category will be awarded the coveted BC Cup winner’s jersey after the series finale.
The 2022 BC Cup DH series launches on the weekend of June 24th–26th as it makes a return to Whistler’s legendary bike park. This will be the first BC Cup race hosted in Whistler since 2019. Vernon’s SilveStar Mountain also makes a welcome return to the BC Cup circuit for 2022 as the second race of the BC Cup, and concurrently the Canada Cup series, on July 8th–10th. Both the BC Cup and Canada Cup head to BC’s iconic rocky mountains this summer for back-to-back races in Fernie on July 15th–17th and in Panorama from July 18th–20th—just ahead of the Canadian National Downhill Championships taking place at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort on July 22nd–24th.
With a few weeks to recover after the first half of the series, the BC Cup picks up again at the fan-favourite Steve Smith Memorial Downhill race, August 26th–28th, at Mt.Washington on Vancouver Island. Big White Resort in Kelowna, with its sprawling views of the Monashee mountain range, takes the spot as the penultimate race of the BC Cup series on September 2nd–4th.
After a successful debut as part of the BC Cup DH series in 2021, Coast Gravity Park on BC’s beautiful Sunshine Coast will be returning as host to the BC Cup DH series final as riders descend upon Canada’s first low elevation mountain bike park on September 16th–18th.
With the 2022 season fast approaching, the opening round of the BC Cup will be here before we know it. To qualify for the BC Cup, riders must hold a valid 2022 BC Provincial or UCI Race licence at the time of the event in which they participate.
