  • Grants

    Cycling BC Coach Development Grant:

    Cycling BC members can apply for grants to help attend NCCP courses and other professional development opportunities (fuel and course fees). Applications open on December 1st and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

    • 5 grants available
    • Apply using the online form
    • Report (photos, reflection) required with receipt submissions
    • 50% of submitted receipts up to a maximum of $250 annually per recipient

    Tour de Delta / Sport Canada Grant

    Sport Canada and the Tour de Delta offer 8 Cycling BC members FREE entry to an NCCP Community course. This course is often run in late September.

  • Start Your Own HopOn Program

    Cycling BC members can apply to start their own HopOn after-school program in their neighbourhood (formerly iRide). Successful applicants receive:

    • Administrative support
    • Equipment
    • Discounted Training

    This is a great opportunity to make an impact in your area using our proven curriculum and create work or volunteer opportunities for you and your cycling friends.

  • Maintenance of Certification

    Once certified, coaches are required to accumulate professional development points to maintain certified status:

    • Comp-Intro – 20 points every 5 years
    • Comp-Dev   – 30 points every 5 years

    There are various ways to accumulate professional development points:

  • Mentorship

    Ride-along Program

    Cycling BC’s Ride-Along Program is a coach development initiative that connects instructors and club coaches with a Cycling BC coach developer. Support is available to Cycling BC members currently pursuing an NCCP coach pathway and have submitted a criminal record check.

    • 1-on-1 phone consultation with a Coach Developer (schedule a call)
    • On-site mentorship during a practice or event, to provide support and suggestions
    • Video Filming/Editing for Comp-Dev TRAINED coaches pursuing certification (Training Day Evaluation)

  • Responsible Coaches Movement

    Coaches have many responsibilities and one of them is to ensure they provide a safe environment for the athlete and for themselves. When athletes and athletes’ parents entrust a coach as a leader they assume they have taken steps to become a responsible coach which includes implementing the 3 steps to Responsible Coaching.
