Cycling BC is excited to announce the new Track Attack points program. This program will replace the existing District points. The Track Attack points will be awarded at double and triple point events (including BC Cups & BC Champs), all points accumulated at these events count toward the year-end totals. Weekly, single point, club racing will continue to count for club awards.
To provide new riders the opportunity to earn rankings and prizes and to make the rankings more competitive for existing Expert and Cruiser riders, the current use of geographic regions (zones) is being changed. In the new program Experts and Cruisers will compete for ranking at the provincial level while Novice and Intermediate riders will continue to be ranked within the current 8 zones.
The reduction in the number of races used to accumulate ranking points will allow rankings to be published in a timely manner so riders can see where they stand against their competition. When the competition starts to heat up those double and triple point events are going to be some great races.
A Track Attack double point event will be held at one of our clubs each week of the racing season as well as Triple point races at various times. This is going to create some exciting cross club racing on a weekly basis. All weekly double points events will held on a clubs regular night will cost the same as the regular club event. Complete schedule of Track Attack events will be available shortly.
The Track Attack program will continue with the same points table and allocation as the previous District points. The point level used to calculate points for an event will be based on the highest proficiency level of the riders in the class at that race. Any rider that has been moved into a higher proficiency level for a race (example Novice rider racing in an Intermediate class) will be awarded the higher level points. Riders also receive add on points for the amount of riders they raced against.
