Cycling BC’s Second Adult Ladies’ Only Camp a Great Success at Action BMX

The mantra was “Be Like Water” at last week’s Ladies’ Only BMX Camp

On Friday Action BMX hosted our second Adult Ladies only camp.  We have 18 riders out, including 7 first time riders.  With help from Amelia Walsh, Erin Kinnie, Laurie Harding, Rosemary Adams and Provincial coach Adam Muys, the Ladies looked to build on their skills and have fun.
Over the two hour camp the new riders learned how to pump, go around the corners, start out of the gate and finished off will a little bunny hopping and jumping.  In the repeat offenders group the theme of the camp was getting comfortable riding closer together.  This group worked on funnelling into the first turn, bumping into each other on the grass and in the rhythm, the camp was finished off with jumping and gate starts.
Following the camp was a social event for everyone to get to know each other.  Everyone relaxed had some snacks and played some games. Overall the camp had a great vibe and it was great to see so many ladies out enjoying the camp and BMX.
“Adam Muys and Laurie Harding led the instruction, and built on the skills taught piece by piece. We learned to be “like water” and pump through the rhythm section, corner like a pro,  bunny hop, and balance at the gate.  By the end of the session, the women’s group gained confidence and have a few laughs along the way!” – Diana Hardie
