The Canadian Sport School is partnering with the Vancouver School Board to deliver a high performance multi-sport education program, that aids students who want to balance a program of education and sport. The goals of CSI – Vancouver are to:
(1) Reduce the academic classroom time required by student athletes compared to traditional schools
(2) Make students better all around athletes with a curriculum in nutrition, injury prevention and training techniques delivered by world-class sport science and medical experts
(3) Provide academic support, coordination and advocacy
The Canadian Sport School – Vancouver is located at University Hill Secondary School, adjacent to the University of British Columbia (UBC). For half of each day, athletes in the program will take core academic courses (such as math, science etc.) required for high school graduation. For the remainder of the day, students will take sport and human performance courses, participate in the Canadian Sport Institute’s IGNITE(™) athlete development program, and have time to catch up on homework and recover from competition. The Vancouver Campus is an exciting addition to the selection of Sport School campuses. Now programs can be offered in Victoria, Kelowna, Prince George, Fort St. John, and Vancouver.
