As Cycling BC works to rebuild its club structure and racing programs, the supervision of races in BC by enough well trained Commissaires is increasingly important.
Supervision of races by Commissaires helps to manage risk and also provides a fair sporting environment for all riders. To that end, Cycling BC is inviting existing Commissaires in all disciplines, as well as other parties involved in racing (for example: organizers, club directors and members possibly interested in becoming Commissaires) to a forum with the purpose of discussing the present status of Cycling BC’s officials and how to best begin building the number and skill level of BC officials.
The specific goals of the forum are these:
~ To discuss the role of Commissaires within the sport in BC
~ To improve understanding of it among those present
~ To examine some of the issues that affect recruitment, assignment to races, training & retention
~ To begin discussing ways to ensure that enough skilled Commissaires are available to support racing at all levels in BC both in the present season and in the future
