Sprockets & Rockets (U12 & U15) Camp #2 Recap

Sprockets and RocketsWith sun breaking through the clouds on Sunday morning, Cycling BC was getting set for the second round of BMX development camps at the Ridge Meadows BMX club.

First up was the Sprockets team. This group consisted of riders from the Vancouver Island, the interior, and almost everywhere in between. Always full of enthusiasm and seemingly endless energy, the team was ready to handle anything coaches Mischa Partridge and James Palmer could throw at them.

“Now that the local race season is under way, the focus for today’s camp will be on passing” says Mischa Partridge. The team continues to build on fundamental skill progression as their main goal throughout the season. As well, adding in race tactics and other competitive activities is a perfect way to get them primed for the season.

By the end of four hours on the bike, some were still asking for more, and others were ready for a well deserved nap.

With the next development camp just one week away, the team will be headed to Action BMX in Surrey for what is sure to be another great day of fun and learning.

The second camp of the day was with the Rockets. There as a ton of excitement in the air as the 2014 team jerseys were handed out!  With the season just recently getting underway and important races fast approaching, all the riders were extremely excited and motivated to get on the track.  Making sure to keep the session as unique, interesting and fun as possible, our primary focus for this session was passing; specifically in the corners. All the kids really enjoyed this as it gave them a new challenge to overcome each lap!
Following this awesome session up with some fun games, all the kids really had a blast and were already signing up for the next camp in Surrey next weekend!
