What a hot, sunny, and exciting weekend it was in Richland, Washington with the Cycling BC Rockets team for the USA BMX Lumberjack Nationals! This being the first Rockets Team Project down to the USA, it was a little bit of a learning experience for everyone!
All of our riders got their first practice on Friday, and though there were some mixed feelings at first, everyone was loving the track and the amazing facility in place for the race on Saturday. After one more warm up Saturday morning to get the track dialed in, all our Rockets came out swinging first qualifying moto, and many of them were able to transfer right to the semi-finals and then mains! Although just making the main was a great result for anyone, everyone put in another strong performance in the main events and many were able to come away with some great results!
Although no one had any practice Sunday morning before racing, we got together as a team before hand and ran through one of our regular dynamic warm ups to get everyone ready to go hard right from the first moto. After the early morning team warm up, everyone laid down an awesome first moto, once again qualifying out of their motos and into the semi-finals and main events! Racing was tight and there were a couple of crashes, but once again we had some amazing performances pulling in a few podium positions!
For the first Rockets Team Project down to the States, the trip was an absolute success for everyone, and all the hard work everyone has been putting in on/off the track and at our training camps showed when everyone was putting down great laps! Thank you to all the Cycling BC sponsors and supporters for making this project possible. For results click here.
