Ridge Meadows BMX spent the weekend demoing BMX skills, and giving young riders the chance to try out the track for themselves. Ridge Meadows BMX reports:
Ridge Meadows BMX hit the road and headed over to the Ridge Meadows Home Show for the 3rd consecutive year. MacDonald Realty, Travis Franklin, Maple Ridge Cycle, Big Steel Box and Youth Unlimited help sponsor and supply the Extreme Show and provide the necessary materials for us.
This year we were lucky with a fantastic sunny weekend! We saw fantastic participation on our wood pump track and attendance at the Extreme Show. This venue gives us a great opportunity to showcase the opportunity available to athletes of all ages. Many young girls and boys were suited up in helmets, gloves and bikes and given the opportunity to learn about our fantastic family sport and the local tracks in the area. So many people are unaware that the sport exists, or that there are tracks and clubs available for families to spend time together. In the days following, we have seen immediate results of new families hitting the Ridge Meadows BMX track and signing up for licences.
The Extreme side of the event featured some of our top BMX racers, as well as amateur jumpers hitting the wood jump line. The youngest jumpers in the show Caleb Dobie and Ryan Tougas got the crowd talking about how small they were hitting these jumps, the older racers such as Nate Berkheimer, Jared Ennis, Aidan MacDonald, and Chase Sherrington wowed the crowd with their big bag of tricks. The attendance at the Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon shows were outstanding. The bleachers were packed and the array of riders that showed and threw down their best tricks was phenomenal!
It’s been truly Fantastic to have the community support we have at the Event over the years.
