What an awesome long weekend day it was in Qualicum on Vancouver Island for the Cycling BC Development team camp at Oceanside BMX. The sun came out to play, and so did all the riders!
We had a smaller turnout for this weekend’s camp, but the energy of the riders definitely made up for it! With the smaller coach to rider ratio, it gave the athletes a great opportunity to have some direct coaching focused directly on the specific areas they could improve on. We started off the camp with some fun skill work in the Oceanside’s newly lengthened rhythm section and third straight followed by some speed exercises for some race like intensity. With the season just up and running and a National on the island in a couple of weeks, much of the day was focused on speed and aggressiveness to help prepare for the race. After completing some awesome first straight and corner activities, we finished off the long hard day with some fun games to cool down.
Everyone had a blast riding in the sun and all the riders put the work in to get them ready for the up an coming national. Can’t wait to be back on the island for the next one!
