This past weekend the BMX team wrapped up the Canada Cup series in Calgary. The team managed to get in three full days of racing.
Saturday after the races Tory (who was not present) and Alex were presented with the “key” to Calgary, which came in the form of a white cowboy hat and a “yeee-haw.” A great way to recognize Canada’s National Champions as Calgary gets ready to host the National BMX Championships for the next two years.
The team had some impressive results with multiple podiums every day. In the Jr. Devo women and Jr. Devo men, Alison Grecht and Ben Leslie consistently finished each moto throughout the weekend in top 3. In the Jr. Men, Alex tougas was taking the lead well out of the gate and holding a solid lead into the second and third straights crossing the line several seconds in front of the rest. Drew Mechielsen, who has spent the last 3 months off her bike due to injury, had an impressive weekend consistently finishing in second, feeling confident and strong. in the Elite Men, James Palmer had some great racing against some of Canada and the World’s best, finishing top 5 all weekend. A big congratulations to all the riders on an incredible year of BMX racing!
