In a busy month of racing, the Cycling BC BMX Development Team was at it again this weekend for their third training camp of the season. With one week before Provincial Championships, the team had four solid hours of training on the Ridge Meadows BMX track before the all-important competition.
Joined by guest coach Jared Ennis, head coach Mischa Partridge lead the team through a morning of skills on the track. “One of my favourite features at this track are the amazing turns. I wanted to take this opportunity for the team to practice corners and passing in the turns” said their coach.
With all riders on their flat pedals, the team was able to focus in on their fundamental skills of jumping and manualling, ensuring they have the correct technique and foundation to build upon.
Riders started the afternoon practising the ever-important gate start. With video to watch, and feedback from both coaches, the team was able to make some good improvements in a relatively short amount of time. After a short break to catch their breath it was time to put it all together for some full laps at race speed.
By the end of the day the team had tired legs, a few more scrapes than they arrived with, but everyone left with a smile on their face.
