Cycling BC’s Board of Directors is excited to welcome Erin Waugh to her new role as Executive Director. Out of the many qualified applicants, Waugh’s openness, passion for cycling, and commitment to hearing our constituents across the province and supporting Cycling BC’s excellent staff, stood out as the right fit to lead the organization forward.
Since joining Cycling BC in April 2016 as Finance & Admin Manager, Waugh’s streamlining of the organization’s financial reporting, and her contributions as an integral member of the team have demonstrated her professionalism and commitment to excellence.
Waugh comes to this position with a background in communications and executive coaching, years working with an elected board of directors, and a clear understanding of the Cycling BC experience from both inside and outside the organization. She is excited to apply this understanding of the organization, her passion for the sport, and her experience in organizational development and human resources, to the growth of Cycling BC.
Waugh believes that growth in our sport is possible by building our community and engaging everyone in conversation: racers, event organizers, commissaires, coaches, recreational riders, sponsors, donors, and government agencies. Building connections and common values, Cycling BC can foster the value of sport for life through cycling, from iRide programs to GranFondos, and every level of participation in between.
In December, Erin took up the challenge of stepping into the role of Interim Executive Director following Jim Richards’ resignation. Waugh’s willingness to step into the role while the Board of Directors conducted the search for an Executive Director allowed us time to reflect on the past year and the ways that the organization can best move forward.
We are also pleased to announce that Richard Wooles will continue his invaluable contributions to the team at Cycling BC with a shift in focus, from operations to athlete and coach development. As the lead coach for road and track, he will be focused on ensuring that our young athletes in these disciplines have access to the support and opportunities they need to take their cycling to the next level. Richard will continue to lead Cycling BC’s coach development programs, along with his work on the overall development and strategy of the iRide program.
Please join us in welcoming Erin Waugh in her new role and thanking Richard Wooles for his continued contribution to Cycling BC.
Rose Keith
Chair, Board of Directors
