After an extensive and competitive search process, the Cycling BC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine Reid as the Executive Director of Cycling BC, effective September 16, 2024.

Christine joins Cycling BC at an exciting time as the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary and continues to build its legacy of building and enriching the sport of cycling in the province.

Christine brings a wealth of experience from her previous role as Executive Director at the North Shore Mountain Bike Association; and she currently co-owns United Strangers, a coffee shop in North Vancouver well known to the cycling community where her leadership and keen eye for marketing have been instrumental in driving success.

Christine is known for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to fostering a culture of unity and inspiring growth. She believes in empowering teams to achieve their best and is dedicated to driving Cycling BC towards its strategic goals in this way.

In accepting her new role, Christine expressed:

“I am excited to start digging in and working with our Cycling BC community to build up our relationships and offer support to those who are passionate about the sport of Cycling. I have spent the last two weeks getting up to speed with the Cycling BC team before engaging with the larger community to ensure our foundation was connected and strong. I’m looking forward to working with our members and community to drive the success of Cycling in BC.”

Outside of her professional life, Christine enjoys forest walks with her 5-year-old and discovering the newest cafes. She is also involved as a Director for the International Mountain Bike Association of Canada, demonstrating a commitment to giving back and elevating the cycling community.

Christine succeeds Erin Waugh who left Cycling BC in late April to pursue new opportunities after eight years with the organization. She will take the reins from Joel Harwood who stepped into an interim leadership role during the transition. The Board of Directors would like to thank Joel for his leadership and support over the past few months while it conducted its search for a new Executive Director.

The Board and staff are very excited to have Christine join Cycling BC.
