Athletes considering joining Cycling BC’s High Performance Program can benefit from enhanced services, support, benefits, and opportunities courtesy of Cycling BC, the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (CSI Pacific), and Pacific Sport, including:
- Subsidized participation in training camps
- Involvement in high-caliber competition projects with financial support
- Coaching assistance
- Grants and bursaries
- Access to discounted products and services
- Educational opportunities, and more.
The Cycling BC High Performance Program also provides targeted athletes with a developmental pathway including opportunities to represent Team BC at national events, which is crucial for an athlete’s growth and development.
Participation in the program can potentially lead to eligibility for funding opportunities, as well as external credits towards high school graduation in B.C.
By joining Cycling BC’s High Performance Program, athletes can position themselves within a supportive environment that can enhance their chances of reaching their athletic goals.
In order to be eligible for selection, Cycling BC and the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, have developed criteria to provide athletes and coaches with a standardized set of metrics applicable across various sports, alongside unique benchmarks tailored specifically for Cycling BC athletes.
To be eligible, athletes must:
- Be a member in good standing with Cycling BC
- Have a designated coach and a yearly training plan
- Participate or be available for Cycling BC programming
- Para athletes must be classified to compete
- Complete CCES Anti-Doping Training
- Complete Safe Sport Training
Athlete selection will consider, among other factors, performance benchmarks, testing data, training plans, technical proficiency, and mental performance skills.
Applications are currently open until January 27, 2025, with athlete selections based on performances from the preceding 12 months.
