Cycling Canada Commissaire of the Year Nominations

From Cycling Canada Official’s Committee:

Commissaires work hard throughout the season to ensure that cyclists are provided with fair competitions which adhere to the CC / UCI Regulations.  Many also spend time and money investing in their personal development to ensure that they stay up to date, as well as continuously improve their abilities and proficiency as a commissaire. This award will be given to candidates based on the following criteria:  work done in the current season; contributions at the national and international level; additional contributions to the sport of cycling.

1)   Canadian National Commissaire of the year

The intent of the award is to honor an active Canadian national commissaire on the basis of his/her achievement of excellence, at the national level, in the previous 15 months (July 1st 2014 to September 30th 2015). International Commissaires are excluded from this award.

 

2)   Canadian International Commissaire of the year

The intent of the award is to honor an active Canadian International commissaire on the basis of his/her achievement of excellence, at the international level, in the previous 15 months (July 1st 2014 to September 30th 2015).

 

Criteria:
  1. Commissaire has been active as an official for the last five years
  2. Commissaire holds a Canadian issued cycling license, and is licensed at the time of the award
  3. Assignments in the previous 15 months only will be considered
  4. Applications for the award may be submitted by:
    a) the commissaire him/herself
    b) the PSO who licenses the commissaire
    c) a currently active and Canadian licensed commissaire who holds at a minimum Canadian National Commissaire status.

 

Additional Criteria (National Commissaire):
  1. Number of events and level of sanctions (provincial and national)
  2. Impact on the sport of cycling in the licensing province (course delivery, mentor, provincial assignments)
  3. Impact as an official at the national level (course delivery, mentor, assignments)
  4. Outstanding official record
  5. Recognized by peers within the licensing province as a valuable resource to the sport of cycling as a commissaire

 

Additional Criteria (International):
  1. Standing within the cycling community at the international and the national level
  2. Number of events and level of international sanctions (within the time period)
  3. Participation in international meetings of the UCI related to commissairing
  4. Impact on the sport of cycling in Canada and/or internationally (for example instructor, mentor, committee or commission member, expert advisor, etc)
  5. Outstanding official record
  6. Recognized by peers within the licensing province and nationally as a valuable resource to the sport of cycling as a commissaire

 

Process:
  1. The Commissaire, a currently active Canadian licensed commissaire (National International status) or a PSO will be required to fill out and submit the Commissaire of the Year Nomination Form 2015.
  2. All nominations shall be received by the CC by September 25, 2015.
  3. The CCOC may decide to conduct further inquiries on any of the nominations.
  4. The CCOC, in collaboration with the staff, will choose the winning candidates.
  5. Recipients will be notified by email and announced during the AGM.
  6. There is no limit to the number of times a commissaire can win the award. There is no restriction to awarding the award in consecutive years. Members of CC and PSO boards and committees are eligible for the award.
