Cycling BC is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, marking five decades of dedication to the promotion and advancement of cycling throughout British Columbia.
Established in February 1974, Cycling BC has played a pivotal role in the cycling community, helping to grow cycling in the province from grassroots initiatives to supporting elite athletes.
Cycling BC will celebrate its anniversary throughout the year in various ways, including sharing the stories of past and present members and highlighting notable moments in Cycling BC’s history on its website, newsletters, and social media platforms.
To celebrate Cycling BC’s remarkable 50-year journey we have released a limited edition 50th Anniversary Commemorative Jersey that embraces the spirit of cycling in British Columbia with a classic and retro-inspired design as a tribute to a half-century of cycling excellence in BC.
The jersey is available to everyone as a pre-order at Cycling BC’s online store starting March 1st and until March 17th only. It is also available in a long-sleeve DH/BMX jersey.
To mark our 50th jubilee, we have created a new design for the BC Provincial Championship jersey that will be presented to the provincial champions in 2024. The new design combines a modern twist with the retro look and feel of the provincial champions’ jerseys from the late 20th century.
As part of our 50th Anniversary celebration, Cycling BC will host monthly 50/50 fundraising draws to continue supporting bike racing and athlete development programming in BC. Tickets are available online and draws will be held on the 27th of each month, starting in March 2024.
Monthly 50/50 ticket purchasers will be entered into bonus draws for Cycling BC swag, and in December one lucky 50/50 supporter will win one of our commemorative jerseys.
Our history is a testament to the many individuals and groups, be it athletes, clubs, teams, coaches, commissaires/officials, organizers, builders, board members, volunteers, donors, sponsors, staff, and countless members that have all played a vital role in shaping Cycling BC over the past fifty years.
