Pumpkin Cross 2017 is quickly approaching, and this year’s event promises to dish up more of the best cyclocross racing and Halloween festivities you could ask for on October 30th in Maple Ridge.
Entering its 10th year, the fun, family friendly event has grown to be one of Canada’s top cyclocross races.
Liv Cycling Canada is back on board to offer prizing and their popular Women’s Learn to Race Clinic with elite racer Sandra Walter. Another perk of the event is a $30 special package for first time women racers, which includes the clinic, race entry and mandatory event insurance.
“We have always been very motivated to grow women’s cycling. Since we partnered with Liv to offer the clinics, and offered the special pricing, we have seen the numbers of women participating in cyclocross increase significantly across the region. This year I want Pumpkin Cross to have the most female participants at a cyclocross race in Canada,” said race director Barry Lyster, putting out a challenge to all women considering toeing the line at their first cyclocross event.
A big part of the day’s events is the much anticipated Halloween costume contest, which complements the sport’s quirky and laid back vibe. In preparation for Pumpkin Cross, racers are not only honing their ‘cross skills, but also working hard creatively to take the top prize for best costume.
Youth races are a major highlight of Pumpkin Cross and there will be exciting races for all ages and skill levels.
