Bonneli Park Kenda Cup XC & Super D

IMG_9405We arrived here in California yesterday afternoon and so far it has been amazing. Today we went to Bonelli Park to practice for the XC and Super D races, as well as get used to the tremendous temperature difference! The courses are very dusty at the moment, which took a bit to adapt to coming from the coast of BC, but practice went very well and I’m excited to compete tomorrow.  I’d like to thank everyone for all the support and the help to make this trip happen!

This is the first time that I have gone on a big trip for biking and the first time I have gone to out of country! So far I am having an amazing tim, it’s a great way to really build the team.  I am pretty nervous for the XC, racing with Cat 1 women, but I know I’ll gain a ton of experience and learn more about myself as a racer.  I also met Sandra Walter and Catharine Pendrel today.  Catharine had some great tips and race strategies to share with us too.

A great day of practice
A great day of practice

We pre rode at bonelli park today and it’s a lot different from what I am used to. It was also my first time riding my new 29er.  The weather is great and its shaping up to be a good race tomorrow; probably the most competitive one I’ve been in.  Im keen to watch the pros and try to learn some stuff. It’s great to be apart of the Cycling BC Team this year – training camps and early season racing like this will really help us be at the top of our game for Nationals.  Thank you to all the sponsors, supporters and Cycling BC for making projects like this happen.
