The inaugural BC Cup Virtual Race Series presented by Cobotix got off to a blazing start this past weekend with riders taking on 4 to 8 laps of the Paterberg course, a 4.2km loop with punishing climbs of up to 20% slope on the RGT online cycling platform.
There was a healthy mix of participants from all ability levels with a broad range of virtual racing experience on display. Some riders were complete newcomers to the RGT Cycling platform coming with experience from other virtual platforms like Zwift. There were also several seasoned virtual racers that have been racing and training on RGT as part of last year’s Echelon Racing Series and have developed a deeper understanding of RGT’s in-game physics and nuances. For some, this was their first foray into virtual racing.
Being that it is a virtual race series, participants from all over the map were able to come together to race first of four BC Cup virtual races. Many local BC riders rolled up to the start line along with riders from Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, the United States, and the UK.
It was BC’s Matt Usborne riding for Above and Beyond Cancer p/b Bike World who took the win in the Men’s Pro/Cat1 race while pro triathlete, Jacqueline Godbe, from the USA, claimed the victory in the Women’s race. Check out all the other results below,
