6 Hours of Maple

This six hour event can be done as a team of two, three or solo. You can register (online coming soon) and entry fee is $33 per person. All proceeds from this event will be towards the efforts of the Cowichan Trail Stewards to help fund their trail building efforts. Registration can only be done on-line.

Where: Maple Mtn – Yellow gate on Osbourne Bay Rd, just south of Crofton.

When: May 10, 2015. Package pick up starts at 8:30, race starts at 10.

The Course: (course updates for 2015 may occur)

The route will follow the Maple Mtn mailine up until branch M600, approx 2.5km up the road. The course will not be going to the top of the mountain. Turn right on M600 and continue to the Maple Syrup trail, turning right again. From Maple Syrup turn left onto Solar Coaster and then follow the large wooden arrows, back to the yellow gate.

This will be an exciting and fun event, also a great tyime to meet fellow mountain bikers. There will be food and beverages availlable at the event site.

The fine folks from Marin Bikes will also be on hand with demo bikes and to answer any questions you may have.

Donations and proceeds of this event will be going towards the Cowichan Trail Stewardship Society’s efforts to build and maintain trails in the Cowichan Valley.  All of the trails to be used during the event have been built, enhanced, and/or maintained by the Trail Stewards.

As a team event, teams of two or three people will take turns completing the 9km loop.  At the end of each lap a rider can either continue through the transition area or do another lap or can tag off to a teammate, who will then continue on with another lap.

Solo riders will ride the same route as the teams.  If a solo rider or team rider wants to head out on another lap before the clock reaches the six hour mark, they will be alllowed to due so.  No riders will be able to head out for a final lap after the sixth hour has been reached.

CYCLING BC LICENSE

All riders must have a valid 2015 Cycling BC License (UCI or Provincial Race License) or a 1 Day Cycling BC License.  We encourage everyone to purchase their 2015 Cycling BC License before registering.  You can do so at Cycling BC Memberships

The 2015 Vancouver Island Cup Mountain Bike Race Series, is BC’s premiere grassroots race series spanning the length of Vancouver Island. Cross Country, Downhill, Enduro and Marathon disciplines are brought together from numerous local mountain bike clubs.

If you’re a first timer, seasoned pro or just out to have some fun we would love to see you experience mountain bike racing on Vancouver Island.
