The Giro di Burnaby is, once again, set to hit the streets of The Burnaby Heights on July 16th, 2015. As part of BC Superweek, the Giro is one of the premiere professional cycling events in Canada, attracting teams from around the globe. The course is a 1.3 km loop featuring a 200 meter downhill straight away past Burnaby’s famous “Swinging Girl” neon sign. With riders reaching speeds of up to 60km per hour, this fast paced event is one of the most exciting the Lower Mainland has to offer.
The new BC Superweek Youth Series is a partnership between BC Superweek and Global Relay’s Bridge the Gap Fund, which is coordinating the series.
In addition to giving the up and coming racers (boys, ages 12 – 15, and girls, ages 12-16) a chance to compete in seven races over eight days, BC Superweek Youth Series will also give them a chance to test their bike handling skills at speed over the same iconic courses their heroes will race on later each evening in front of thousands of cheering race fans.

Some of the most competitive teams in national and international cycling have already committed to attending the series next summer. All races are free to watch.
The list of cycling stars who have raced at BC Superweek includes the likes of Tyler Farrar, Chris Horner, Alex Stieda, Svein Tuft, Brian Walton, Christian Meier and Dominic Rollin on the men’s side, and Leah Kirchmann, Gillian Carleton, Alison Sydor, Leslie Tomlinson and Erinne Willock on the women’s side.
