L’Alpe de Grande Blanc – Road Bike Race

L’Alpe de Grande Blanc is a 58.4 kilometre road bike race from Kelowna to Big White Ski Resort.  Starting on Hollywood Road South, near the Mission Creek Bike Park, emerging onto Highway 33 to the Big White Road cutoff, and ending in the Big White village area where the Village Centre Mall is located.

The L’Alpe de Grande Blanc will engage the local cycling community with a challenging ride from Kelowna to Big White Ski Resort.  The riders will enjoy a  fully supported road ride that embodies the ceremony and rituals of the world’s greatest cycling event.  The L’Alpe de Grande Blanc will offer up Polka Dot Jersey’s for the King and Queen of the Mountain classifications along with prizes for the fastest team, youngest and oldest competitor.  A festival atmosphere will welcome the riders to the finish line where they will be greeted with entertainment, post ride BBQ, refreshments and massage.  The ride will feature 3 distances – the full length of close to 60 km, a shorter 23 km ride starting at the Highway 33 – Big White Road junction, and a short 2.0 km hill climb for juniors/youth starting near the Ridge Rocket parking lot and ending at the same finish line.  As this is a point-to-point ride, all riders will be offered transport back to Kelowna after the awards ceremony.
