Ideal for parents, volunteers, teachers and others who occasionally work with youth or adults new to cycling, this one day, in-class workshop covers the basic principles of coaching including ethical decision making, planning and organizing a practice, cycling safety and risk management, and introducing disabled riders to the sport.
This course is the minimum requirement for new coaches who would like to work with a local group or Cycling BC’s iRide program. As an alternative, coaches can skip this course and instead enroll in the Ready to Race! Training Basics course.
This course is offered as a 4hr night-course with an accompanying Basic Cycling Skills course on the following day or offered as an 8hr 1-day course that includes an outdoor coaching section to help you build confidence in teaching one of the basic cycling skills.
