The Burnaby Velodrome Club was host to the highly anticipated 2024 BC Provincial Track Championships held at the Harry Jerome Sports Complex in Burnaby from December 13 to 15, 2024.
As anticipated, the event showcased exhilarating races, featuring a dazzling mix of both sprint and endurance events for athletes of all skill levels. With the BVC’s Friday Night Racing and Sprinters Paradise events serving as warm-ups leading up to Provincials, racers were ready to elevate their game as they competed for provincial titles.
“What a weekend! We saw good riding, great racing, development of lifelong friendships and a passion for sport,” said John Mayr of the Burnaby Velodrome Club, the event’s lead organizer.
“The event’s race directors from the Burnaby Velodrome Club would like to thank a long list of people from volunteers, parents, spectators, race officials and Cycling BC. We also need to recognize that without the support of the BC government and the City of Burnaby, racing and riding at the Burnaby Velodrome would not be possible. Congratulations to all the Provincial Champions, the riders who made up the competitive fields, and the athletes who travelled to come and race.
A special thanks to Dylan Davies who raised over $500 in funds to assist riders heading to the 2025 Canadian National Track Cycling Championships in Bromont, QC, from January 10-12.”
“Thank you to everyone for a great race weekend and congratulations on all your hard work and dedication to your cycling craft,” added Ben Chaddock, the Cycling BC representative at the event. Thank you for participating and being part of our cycling community. Have a happy holiday season!”
