Cycling BC is pleased to announce the eight riders who received generous support from the BC Governments Athlete Assistance Program. Nigel Ellsay, Gillian Ellsay Alex Tougas, Alison Grecht, Rhys Verner, Sean Fincham, Stephanie Denroche, and Daniel Shaw.
Thanks to Cycling BC’s AAP support I gain access to new and additional tools that might make the difference in my cycling career. Cycling is an expensive sport. Extra support, like Cycling BC’s AAP funding, means I can be on a level playing field with the serious professionals I compete against. Thanks to Cycling BC there are no excuses!

I am very thankful to be a recipient of funding through BC AAP. With this being an Olympic qualifying year and my first year as a Junior Elite, this funding will go towards helping me with my extensive travel costs. I am hoping to get to as many UCI BMX races that I can, where I hope to earn valuable UCI points for Canada. So far this year, I have travelled to the first two BMX Supercross World Cups in Europe to gain experience on an International level with the top riders.

Thanks to Cycling BC and their sponsors and supporters. The stress of trying to manage a part time job, along with full time training and racing and full time studies in my final year of high school will be lessened thanks to BC’s AAP program. I will be able to put 100% of my time and focus on training and preparing for the Junior Worlds Track Championships in August. Thank you to all who have contributed: I greatly appreciate your generosity.
-Gillian Ellsay
I am very excited for my second season on the Cycling BC team as a 1st year Junior. Last year I finished on the podium at my first Nationals and UCI race as a U17. This grant will help me to attend the first two Canada Cup’s in Ontario to gain Canada Cup and UCI points to better my starting position at Nationals. This additional race opportunity will put me in as a top contender for the 2015 XCO Canada Cup Overall title, as well as a podium finish as a first year junior at the 2015 XCO Nationals in St. Felecien, QC.
