Coming from Mt Tremblant this past weekend we have had this week to train and explore some riding areas in Quebec before the Baie St Paul race this coming weekend. Tuesday we went and rode Mt St Anne, having the experience of riding parts of the world cup track was super fun and also showed us how technical the WC tracks are. Yesterday and today we have been pre riding the Baie St Paul XC course. I am loving the course as it is technical with rocky and rooty descents and climbs just like back home. Tomorrow is the last day training on course before Saturdays race, I am looking forward to the race and am aiming for a top ten result.

So far our Quebec trip has been successful, having raced Mont-Trembant Canada Cup I feel as though I learned a lot. The race was very muddy, my first true mud race in two years and found myself struggling but adapting and making improvements as the race went on.  I am really excited about the next race in Baie-St.Paul, it is a challenging and complicated course which can play to my strengths. A highlight for me this trip has been hanging out with the team after the race, I am enjoying my time with my teammates. I would like to take this time to thank Tara Mowat, Mike Charuk and all the Cycling BC sponsors and staff. Thank you for all your support, it is greatly appreciated.

This up and coming weekend the Cycling BC Mountain bike team will be competing in Baie-St.Paul.  We’ve ridden the XCO course enough times that I can still see the course and all my lines when I close my eyes.  Unlike the last race at Mont-Trembant, Baie-St. Paul, feels like I will be more prepared, not just physically but also technically.  While at Mont-Trembant I was physically fit enough, but technically wasn’t experienced enough to hang on to most of the junior girls.  This race I feel I can.  The past week as a team, we have been working on both our physical and mental performance as well as our technical skills – lots of sessioning.  With all this preparation for the next race I feel more confident and excited for the up and coming race. Thank you to all the Cycling BC supporters for making experiences possible.

So far this Camp has been amazing.  I am really excited to take part in the second XC Canada Cup in Baie Saint Paul, QUE. We have been riding and checking out the course for most of the week so I am really feeing confident going into this race. Early in the week we checked out the World Cup track at Mt. Ste. Anne and I loved the track and the venue. For the last few years I have been watching the live stream of the WC race online and it was really exciting to ride the same track as the best in the world – hopefully one day I’ll be racing this track.  This weekend I am hoping for a top 3 finish and to hopefully leave Quebec on a high note.  Thank you to Cycling BC and all their sponsors and supporters for giving athletes like us the opportunity to travel and race with some of Canada’s best!
