Cycling BC is pleased to announce the 2019 calendar for the BC Provincial Championships p/b Lexus for Road, Track, Mountain Bike Cross-country XCO and XCM, Downhill, and BMX. The provincial championships represent high quality, competitive racing where BC’s top riders will compete for the coveted BC Provincial Champions jersey.
“We are excited to get the 2019 cycling racing season underway and 2019 will be the first full year that we will have Lexus Canada on board with the provincial championships,” said Erin Waugh, Executive Director at Cycling BC. “Lexus Canada’s commitment to high performance and excellence is synonymous with what the provincial championships are all about, athletes of all skill levels, across all ages and categories giving it their best.”
Mountain Bike XCO gets the 2019 provincial championship race calendar rolling as the SORCE Bike Club hosts Junkyard Dog on May 19th at the South Surrey Athletic Park. The provincial championships on the XCM side returns to Kamloops on July 14th as the Stomp Classic will double as a provincial championship and final for the BC Cup XCM race series.

Elite & Masters road riders will get their shot at provincial championship glory as Escape Velocity hosts the BC Time Trial & Road Race Championships in Langley on May 25 & 26 respectively. On the same weekend, Junior road riders will compete for the BC Junior Road Championships at the Hayman Classic Youth Stage Race in Penticton from May 24-26.
Saturday, June 15th will see a double-dose of provincial championship racing as the Awesome Grand Prix around Vancouver’s Jonathan Rogers Park will crown BC’s 2019 Elite and Masters Criterium Champions, while BC’s BMX Provincial Champions will be determined at the Ride Meadows BMX track in Pitt Meadows.
Finally, the BC Track Cycling Championships will return to the Westshore Velodrome in Victoria on August 23-25 as the Greater Victoria Velodrome Association hosts the championships for the third year in a row.
All of the provincial championship races with the exception of track and cyclo-cross will double as BC Cup races this year. The final provincial championship race of the year will be the cyclocross provincials which will be held in the fall. The schedule for this event will be released later this year.
“We are privileged to have a dedicated community of organizers that make bike racing first-rate in BC,” said Cory Ostertag, Cycling BC’s Events and Member Services Manager. “Cycling BC supported over 300 events in the province last year and we will continue to build on this thanks, in large part, to the commitment of everyone who comes out to the races and the people who organize, officiate, and volunteer to make these events happen.”
Athletes participating in the provincial championships must have a valid Cycling BC Provincial Race licence or UCI licence and must be a resident of BC in order to qualify for a provincial championship.
