The 2016 Rio Summer Olympics kick off this weekend! Six BC cyclists will be taking on the world in pursuit of Olympic and Paralympic gold this year:
Laura Brown (Vancouver), Jasmin Glaesser (Vancouver), and Georgia Simmerling (West Vancouver) will be representing Canada on the velodrome, August 11th – 16th. The women’s team pursuit qualifying races are on August 11th, with finals will take place on August 13th. Click here for the full track schedule.
Tory Nyhaug (Coquitlam) is Canada’s sole BMX athlete at the games this year. The BMX competition begins with seeding runs on August 17th, with semi-finals and finals on August 19th. Click here for details on the BMX competition.
Catharine Pendrel (Kamloops) will be riding for Canada in the mountain bike competition. The women’s cross-country race takes place on Saturday, August 20th. Click here for full details on the MTB race.
