Tour of Walla Walla – Day 3

Tour of Walla Walla – Day 3

A huge thank-you to all the sponsors and supporters of this Junior project. It was such an incredible chance for the Juniors to gain experience at a stage race, and it couldn’t have been done without the support from some incredible companies and individuals!

The Tour of Walla Walla’s final stage was a scorching hot, picturesque, technical road race. The Cycling BC Junior team raised the heat even more with their spicy attacks! The sun was out in full force as well as the best riders the Pacific Northwest has to offer. The perfectly sculpted rolling hills provided a beautiful back drop for the hilly road race finale. The girls and boys knew they were in for a tough day, but with their teammates support and impeccable preparation, they were ready to throw down against some older and more experienced competition.

“The road race was very hard, but also rewarding. At the start all the girls did a good job of staying near the front of the pack, and we had great communication skills. On the first climb, the attacks from the front started coming, after that attacks were going up every hill non-stop. It was awesome to have team mates close by to help you in the tough parts. Thank you so much to all the sponsors that made this happen, as it was an invaluable learning experience for me and everyone else on the team!” – Brenna Pauly

“The final road race of this year’s Cat. 3 Tour of Walla Walla started off fairly tame, but things started to tense up after Trevor Pearson launched a spicy attack which formed a breakaway group with a solid gap. The course was relentless, with climbs, sharp fast corners, and descents which us juniors would spin out on! The break eventually got swallowed up and the race finished in a group sprint. We gave it our all but in the end we couldn’t get a rider onto the podium. All in all, good race to end a great stage race with. I’d like to thank Cycling BC and all our sponsors, as well as our support staff of Tim, Tara, and Cody for giving us the opportunity to partake in such an awesome event.” – Jordan Duncan
